Artist Statement
When you start thinking of ideas for your projects in the most random of places that's when you know art has taken over your life. How did a simple class become everything I think about? Getting to know myself and my culture the best part of it. From freshmen year to my junior year I believe my art skills have increased. Art is a lot more than simple paintings; it is connecting it to your own lifestyle your culture and what you like. Frida Kahlo is my biggest inspiration because of her beautiful painting techniques and connecting with her culture. Learning from different artists and movements is something I have greatly improved on. Identifying an artist work and evaluating it has made me realize that artwork is more than a simple painting. Art is more than a pretty picture but the emotion and culture you put into it. That is what I have learned throughout my art years in high school. My skills have only improved, along with discovering new techniques. Art is a form of relaxation, behind all the stress projects may cause when I begin to paint and work on my artwork all my worries and stress disappear they no longer exist. Art is an escape from your problems. Art is all around us. Our clothes, the buildings we see, every painting, jewelry and sculpture we have around us is art. I have gained new experiences I have visited art galleries something I had never experienced before. Art has taken over my life I think of new ideas everywhere I go and I know I will learn so many other new things until my senior year. I won’t stop there I want to study art in college and maybe even make a career out of it.
